This is the one that lives on the bench. Onions, herbs, Tuesday night stir-fry, the lot.
It's edge grain, which means the timber runs in long strips on its side. That makes it lighter than an end-grain block and easy to lift to the sink, but still tough enough to take a daily beating.
Every board starts as reclaimed Australian hardwood. I mill it, glue it, shape it and sand it in my Marrickville workshop, then finish it with food-safe oil and my own beeswax balm. The grain on yours will be its own. No two come out the same.
Look after it and it'll look after you. Hand wash, dry it off, oil it when it looks thirsty. Never the dishwasher.
